Kara Rainey: January 2, 1984-January 1, 2020

Kara Rainey was born on January 2, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri to father Robert Cavanaugh and mother Sandra Rainer. She died in the early hours of January 1, 2020. Ms. Rainey is survived by both parents and siblings Peter, Delilah, Victoria, Amanda, and Sienna.

Ms. Rainey was coming home from a friend’s New Year’s Eve party when her car swerved off the road and hit a tree at about 60 MPH. The accident occurred on Long Branch Road, right near the same spot where another accident back in November of last year claimed the lives of two drivers. She died only one day shy of her 36th birthday. Due to the presence of an existing memorial, Ms. Rainey’s parents have been in contact with the families of the other two victims to coordinate adding a memorial for their daughter to it.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Powell Brothers Funeral Home. There will be a candlelight vigil for Ms. Rainey open to everyone from 8-9 PM on January 4th. A private funeral service for close friends and family will be held later.
