Former Emerson County Sheriff Oliver Price Found Dead

The long-serving former sheriff Oliver Price, who was defeated by Victor Grayson in the most recent election, was found dead in the office of his estate yesterday afternoon. Mr. Price was 64 at the time of his death. According to the authorities, his body was discovered around 1:45 PM by his wife Hilary.

Although details are still emerging, it is believed that Mr. Price used a hunting knife to eviscerate himself. Sheriff Grayson has not found any evidence of foul play, but is not ready to rule the death a suicide until the coroner has finished the examination. Mr. Price had been embroiled in a number of controversies over the last few years, including allegations of corruption and abuse of authority. It is unclear if these matters contributed to his death in any way.

The family of Mr. Price has asked that any gestures of condolences be given in the form of a donation to the Lost Children Foundation, a charity that provides assistance to the families of those whose children have gone missing. They intend to hold a private funeral for Mr. Price, and ask for the public’s understanding during their time of grieving. If anyone is interested in attending a memorial for the late former sheriff, Mr. Price’s family may have one in the spring.
