Robert Delisle: January 4, 1992-October 1, 2020
Robert “Bobby” Delisle was born on January 4, 1992 in Newburyport, Massachusetts to Michael “Mike” Delisle, Sr. and Sandra Delisle (née Orson). He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Michael “Mikey” Delisle, Jr. Bobby is survived by his friends in town who never lost faith in his innocence.
Bobby first came to Emerson Valley in 2016 and quickly became friends with his coworkers at the city morgue. He was no stranger to death and tragedy, and he had a dark sense of humor that was wicked and hilarious all at once. He often delighted his friends with macabre tales and spooky stories, but his aim was always to amuse—never to terrify.
In the months prior to his death, Bobby became somewhat withdrawn and secretive. Unbeknownst to his friends, he was suffering from severe mental health issues. Due to his sense of humor, when he claimed he was hearing the voice of Elizabeth Barton (the columnist who writes “Dear Libby”) in his head, they thought it was a gag. They had always mocked her articles, so it seemed in line with his sense of humor.
The police and district attorney claim Bobby was stalking and harassing Mrs. Barton, even using his work computer to carry out these activities. However, his friends never saw any evidence of this, and because Bobby was convinced to take a plea deal, none of the supposed evidence against him ever came to light. He died by drowning in Silver Creek River, but since he was in custody at St. Benedict’s Hospital at the time, it’s a complete mystery how he got out and ended up dead.
Nobody wants to investigate Bobby’s death because they have all deemed him a criminal and a creep. Bobby was neither of those things as far as his friends are concerned. They remember the sweet, hilarious, curious man who brought joy into their lives. They’ll never forget when he would come along on family camping trips, especially that delicious stew he made from freshly picked mushrooms.
A funeral will be held for Robert Delisle, but the details shall remain private for the sake of his loved ones who do not wish to be harassed or threatened any further by crazed “Dear Libby” fans. It’s ironic that he went to jail and possibly died for allegedly harassing and threatening Mrs. Barton, yet her fans are allowed to get away with doing the same thing. If you believe Bobby was a criminal, fine, but you don’t have to go after his friends just because they won’t denounce him like you want.
